Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

UR Studio ("we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we manage your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). A copy of the APPs is available from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at https://www.oaic.gov.au/.

This policy applies to our barbershop at 61 Peel St, WEST MELBOURNE VIC 3003 and our website www.urstudio.com.au.

What personal information we collect

Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • your name and contact details (such as phone number and email address), if you contact us directly;
  • details of your appointments and service preferences, where you book with us;
  • messages and enquiries you send us, including through social media such as Instagram; and
  • technical and usage information when you visit our website (see "Our website" below).

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or religious beliefs). If you choose to tell us something sensitive, for example an allergy or skin condition relevant to a service, we will only use it for that service, or with your consent, or where required or authorised by law.

How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you where reasonable and practicable, for example in person, by phone, by email or message, or when you book. Online bookings are made on the website of our booking provider, Fresha, which collects the information you enter there. We may also receive information from publicly available sources or from third parties, in which case we will take reasonable steps to make you aware of it.

Why we collect, hold and use it

  • to provide our services and manage appointments;
  • to respond to your enquiries and communicate with you;
  • to operate, secure and improve our website and services;
  • to promote our business, where you would reasonably expect this or have consented; and
  • to meet our legal obligations.

We will only use or disclose your personal information for these purposes, for a related purpose you would reasonably expect, with your consent, or where required or authorised by law.

Our website

When you visit our website we automatically collect limited technical and usage information. It does not include your name, email address or phone number:

  • the pages you view, the "Book Now" button you use and the website or tagged link (for example an Instagram link) that referred you;
  • where you click or tap on a page, how far down the page you scroll, whether you are on a phone or a larger screen, and a random identifier that lasts only for your browser session; and
  • page view and page speed measurements provided by Vercel.

We use this information to understand how our website is used and to improve it. You can opt out by choosing "Decline" on our cookie notice. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.

Who we disclose your information to

We may disclose personal information to:

  • service providers that help us operate, including our booking provider (Fresha), website hosting and analytics providers (Vercel and Supabase) and social media platforms;
  • professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers;
  • anyone else with your consent; and
  • government agencies or others where required or authorised by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider handles it in a way consistent with the APPs.

Direct marketing

We may send you promotional messages where you have consented or would reasonably expect it. You can opt out at any time by telling us or using the unsubscribe option in the message, and we will stop.

Anonymity and pseudonyms

You can browse our website without giving us personal information. Where practicable you may also deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym, but we may not be able to provide services such as bookings without your name and contact details.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including restricting access and using secure service providers. When information is no longer needed for any purpose for which it may be used, and we are not legally required to keep it, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

If we experience a data breach likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Access and correction

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within a reasonable time (usually within 30 days). We do not charge for making a request, but may charge a reasonable fee for providing access in some circumstances. If we refuse a request we will tell you why in writing.

Complaints

If you think we have breached the APPs or this policy, please contact us using the details below. We will investigate and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on our website, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
